How We Make Money

A platform that charges sellers nothing should be able to explain exactly how it stays in business. This page does that.

If you’ve landed here, you’re asking the right question. A real estate platform that charges sellers nothing, no listing fee, no commission, no cut of your proceeds, should be able to explain exactly how it stays in business.

If you’re looking for the why behind our free model, the philosophy, the history, and what “free” actually includes, that’s on our companion page: Why We Are Free. This page is the mechanics. Where the money actually comes from.

Our revenue streams

1. Vetted Local Professional Directory

Every home sale involves a network of professionals: attorneys, mortgage lenders, home inspectors, photographers, contractors, title companies, movers, and more. Those professionals have always needed a reliable way to reach motivated, qualified clients. We give them that access.

Service providers apply to be listed in our Local Professional directory, sign our Advertiser & Sponsor Honor Pledge, and pay a monthly subscription fee for that placement. A few things about how this works:

  • Local Professionals work specifically in the counties you’re interested in. An attorney in Cook County, Illinois does not appear to a seller in Miami-Dade. You only see providers who can actually help you.
  • We cap the number of Local Professionals per category per county. A short list of vetted professionals is worth more than a long list of strangers.
  • Every Local Professional signs the Honor Pledge before they’re listed. It is not decorative language. Local Professionals who violate it are removed.
  • You are never required to use a Local Professional. Bring your own attorney, your own inspector, your own photographer. The platform works either way.
  • The directory is growing. In many places we don’t have Local Professionals yet. If you have a professional you’d recommend, send them our way.

What this costs you: nothing.

2. Mortgage Pre-Approval Advertising

When a buyer requests a mortgage pre-approval through our platform, we route that request to a licensed mortgage banker who advertises with us. We don’t take referral fees or commissions. It’s straight advertising.

The buyer pays nothing beyond whatever the lender charges for the loan itself, the same cost they’d pay anywhere else. All mortgage Local Professionals display their NMLS number so you can verify their licensing independently.

What this costs you: nothing.

What we will never do

This is the part of the page that matters most.

  • We will never charge sellers a commission
  • We will never charge a listing fee
  • We will never take a percentage of your sale proceeds
  • We will never let Local Professionals buy their way past our standards

If any of this ever changes, we’ll say so directly, not bury it in a terms-of-service update.

The Honor Pledge

Every Local Professional in our directory signs a binding Advertiser & Sponsor Honor Pledge before they’re listed. The Pledge commits them to quality, integrity, transparency, and putting users first.

We do not accept Local Professionals who can’t meet that standard, regardless of what they’d pay to be listed. The value of this platform depends entirely on whether you can trust what you find here. The Pledge is how we enforce that. Read the Honor Pledge.

How the math works

On a $750,000 home sale, a traditional agent arrangement typically costs the seller $45,000, a 6% commission split between the buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent. With SaveOnYourHome.com, that same seller pays $0 in commission.

We earn revenue from a network of service providers who want access to our platform. Every home sale involves 8 to 15 of those providers. They’ve always needed a way to find clients. We give them a direct, honest channel, and we charge them a transparent subscription fee for that access. They get motivated, qualified leads. You get free tools. The only thing this disrupts is the commission structure.

None of that revenue comes from you.

A note from the founder

I built this platform after watching too many sellers walk away from closings stunned by how much they’d just paid in commission, not for a service they couldn’t have done themselves, but simply because no one had shown them another way.

This model exists to change that. We make money from the businesses that serve you, not from you. That’s not a compromise, it’s the design. It’s what makes this worth building, and worth keeping free. I hope the transparency here earns your trust.
